By: Terence Young

I know for many people shopping is a past time. They have turned it almost into a sport where there will spend hours in the malls looking to dig out that perfect buy. Whilst this may not have healthiest impact on your wallet, what if you could actually get paid to shop. There are many mystery shopping companies that do just that. They offer to pay you for doing just that, dining at restaurants, buying take out food, shopping at various shops where you actually get paid and you also get to keep what you buy.

The reason companies offer mystery shopping experiences is they are looking to improve their product or service. Buying hiring mystery shoppers they can obtain much needed market research data. This is invaluable for companies who would like to know what a shopping experience would be like for an average shopper. They can monitor customer service, response to enquiries and the general shopping experience overall from the information mystery shoppers gather for them.

With retail set to continue to grow and the billions of dollars that consumers spend each year, many retailers are set to gain much need strategic advantages to help them compete more competitively.

So how do you go about getting paid as a mystery shopper. First you need to register your interest to one of the many companies that offer this service. Once you are registered on their database they will begin emailing you with new opportunities as they arise. The opportunities vary greatly and will appeal to whatever your taste. You will find fast food restaurants, retailers, cafes and even banks. By limiting the opportunities to your geographic area you will save yourself from needless travel.

You have the flexibility to choose and pick the ones you want to do. You can do as many or as little as you like. You will be given instructions on each shopping experience and the information that the company would like you to report back on.

Once you have completed the shopping experience you simply submit you report and you will get paid.

The more reliable and dependable you become the more opportunities are sent your way. So be patient when you first start. When you first start you may find many job opportunities one week and not many the next. That's the nature of it and you tend to need to be quick in responding to your emails as some popular jobs can go fast. But once you get the hang of things then it becomes easier to just manage your time and schedule.
